As far as quirky family traditions go, there really aren't any. Yet. My son is 8.5 months old and I'm excited to start those quirky traditions with him because I didn't have those growing up. Is it weird that I crave quirk?? LOL

Anyway, we definitely have holiday parties. We make it a point to get together with our friends for a nice Christmas dinner and a game of White Elephant. We have a $5 maximum budget per gift and the gift can be silly, serious, or totally useless. It's interesting to see what everyone comes up with every year. Last year Play-Doh was the hit of the party.

One thing I MUST do is have a real tree. That's the post I linked to with Mr. Linky. I'm in love with my tree this year.

I just have to comment on your comment about your boys and the Christmas PJ's. I'm sure they will thank you for those pajama pants some day. But you could also give them their way, then threaten to put the underwear pictures on your blog. :)

This was a fun post -- It makes me more excited for Christmas.

Oh, and we are TOTALLY stealing the Christmas Eve Breakfast tradition!!

I have never said I didn't believe in Santa.............I know .
My boys are grown ,married and have given me 9 grandkids. I will see most of them Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. For the past 3 years I've spent Christmas Eve with my youngest bunch. Get to wake up with them and see what Santa has brought. Wonderful .........the 4yo says "remember dramma you sleep with me"

Public website not finished yet.
I was a single mom with 5 kids for a long time, and our tradition was to have a Christmas Eve party, just for us but it usually included very close friends. We stuck to the same foods and the same punch year in and year out, because children are real sticklers for tradtion. We also each opened a present, which was always pj's, and all the kids pretended to not know that it was pj's. Most of my children are grown, with their own kids, and they are still looking for the gift of pj's.

No website, no blog but had to share. We love "Santa" but my kids are older now so Santa is a little different for us. Where Santa used to leave the presents open under the tree he now wraps them and puts the stack of gifts for each child out after they go to bed. Santa won't come if they are up. We get up on Christmas morning and take turns opening gifts. My son didn't like it at first but now looks forward to the new tradition. I guess he just didn't want to grow up. When the kids were smaller we had a family advent wreath and every night before they wen to bed we lit the advent candle and read from a book called the ABC's of Christmas. As they got older it became a tradition that was not as easy to accomplished. On Christmas Eve we chill around the house, visit church members that we don't get to see very often and in the evening we attend the Christmas Eve service. My son, now 16 doesn't know any different and made the comment last year that Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the Christmas Eve service. After service we ride around and look for lights. We have no family here so it is just us. I am sure that will change in the near future. Our other tradition is to watch "Jingle All the Way" while decorating the house. It makes the hustle and bustle of what we are doing seem less stressful. Love reading what you all have to say.
