I am so incredibly grateful for all the messages of love and concern for my family and beloved community. Still no electricity here and none anticipated for 2 weeks. Ga Jan graciously wrote an update for me at her blog www.granjansjoy.blogspot.com.
Please pray for those who have lost lives and homes. Our family more fortunate than most. Hopefully I can write more soon.
Royal Cro n
By Tunrade Schumann
There is an RC Cola bottling company in our town. It’s a fairly large building in a high-traffic part of the city. Everyone knows it’s there and uses it as a landmark (which I found amusing when moving from Atlanta – it’s not exactly The Big Chicken.)
Until about three months ago, there were large letters on the side of the building facing the road that read “ROYAL CRO N.” The “W” fell off the wall shortly after we moved to Arkansas, and it was over a year before they finally reinstalled that missing letter. It was lying on the ground beside the building for months, waiting for someone to come and fix it. The building became a joke for my husband and me; even now, we still call the factory the Royal Cron.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
-1 Peter 2:9
When we were lost in darkness, God brought us into His light. He took us, in all our filth, and made us holy – and He has called us to declare that transformation to the world.
But sometimes we are missing our “W”. We allow sin into our life and let it stay. We gossip, we belittle, and we deceive. Those around us, both Christians and non-Christians, can see that we are not as we should be, and yet we make no effort to change. “It’s not that big a deal,” we tell ourselves, “I’ll fix it later.” All the while, we are making a mockery of our faith.
1 Peter chapter 2 urges us to live godly lives in an ungodly society. Part of living such a life is getting rid of sin as soon as we find it. It takes work, it takes time and it takes discipline. But giving our Redeemer the glory he deserves is so worth it!

Finally, I just couldn’t publish this post without asking for you to please join me in praying for Lisa. Her family, home and community have all been affected by the storms in Alabama. Please pray the Holy Spirit would do a mighty work in and through them as they process for themselves and minister to others in the coming days. You can see Lisa’s updates at her Twitter account. ~Rachel

Non-piano-playing Worship Pastor’s wife and grateful recipient of God’s grace. Huge dork. Mommy of two. Recovering perfectionist. Ridiculously obsessed with family, friends, chattin’ it up, crafting and teaching.
Angie @ Messy Cars and Muddy Shoes
I live in Northern Wisconsin, three blocks from Lake Superior. I’m a Pastor’s wife, mother of six daughters and one son, feeder of two Golden Retrievers, and the only one in our family who knows how to use a broom. At 51, I’m old enough to be a grandmother but I still have young kids at home. My kids wear me out and keep me young. The oldest four have graduated and I homeschool the youngest three. Welcome to my world of messy cars and muddy shoes.
Cazandra @ Oozing Everyday
Born and raised in big city Texas, I now live in the mountains of New Mexico and love it! I am the mother of two sons, a high schooler and a pre-schooler, and have been married to the love of my life for 17 years. He is a Methodist Pastor in our little town of Truth or Consequences. I have also recently started my Master’s work at Iliff Seminary. I’m not sure where the path of Seminary will take me, I’m just enjoying school.
Jennisa @ The Princess Diaries
31 year old wife of 10 years, mother to 2 lovely daughters, Jesus lover… learning along the way. I fail in many more ways than I succeed. I am short tempered, I despise cooking and many of the typical ‘house-wife’ tasks. I’m a work in progress. Oh, and I design blogs and other stuff like that too…in my ‘spare time.’
