WFMW Three Ingredient Extravaganza

Today’s edition of WFMW calls for a quick meal when you only have three ingredients. Here is a favorite standby of mine that always comes in handy when the cupboards are bare:

The BEST Potato Soup

*3-4 peeled and chopped potatoes

(I personally like to use red potatoes and leave the skin on)

*Instant Potato Flakes

*Salt & Pepper

(Okay, so technically this is 5 ingredients, but I’m counting on you having butter and salt. Totally a combination that makes the world go round for me. )

Chop potatoes and place in boiling water – enough to cover about 2-3 inches.

Boil potatoes until fork tender.

Add potato flakes until you absorb the water and have a runny mashed potato consistency.

Add milk until the soup is the thickness you like. I prefer my soup a little on the runnier side. If you like it thicker, use more flakes and less milk.

Butter and salt the heck out of it.

Did I mention I love butter and salt?

AND, if you have a few more things in your cabinet, here’s how to kick it up a notch and turn it into :

Loaded Baked Potato Soup

Grated Cheese
Bacon Bits
Sour Cream
Red Onion

Works For Me Wednesday

I’ve posted before on the technique for properly cleaning a tub/shower, but would you like to know how to keep it that way?

The Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner.

Now I am the Queen of Skeptics where cleaning gadgets are concerned. I didn’t buy into the toilet wand or the Roomba. BUT – I have seen this baby in action and I’m telling you it works. All you do is push a button after you’ve finished showering. It sprays the interior of your bath with a cleaning solution and keeps you from the backbreaking work I described in my previous cleaning post. I only use the solution once every other day to make the refill last longer and still get great results.
I didn’t get one of these free for telling you about it. I’m not hosting a giveaway.

What I am telling you is – for those of you who have wondered if it really does what it claims – this handy dandy little device prevents my having to work myself to death cleaning the tub and that TOTALLY Works For Me. :)

Works for Me Wednesday

We have three boys to get ready every morning and the routine can sometimes be overwhelming with all of them yelling for help at the same time.

Unintentionally at first, I began staggering their wake up times – the one who takes longest to get ready gets up first. I was able to get a few things done for one before the next needed attention.

Now this has turned in to an incentive to get ready faster. Whoever takes the longest to get ready for school has to be the first one up the next morning. It seems boys tired from football practice the night before covet the few extra minutes sleep!

Anything that helps our mornings go a bit smoother works for me!
