    Hello!
I’ve just started going through your online bible study, thank you so much for providing such a good resource I can access from home!
I just wanted to ask about lesson 2 though, I think you mean Samuel 1 for your first Samuel reference, and I can’t find the second Samuel reference, I hope you can help!
    Thanks,
    Sophie

Dear Lisa, First of all I loved the story about your son’s gift to you…God is so good to give us life lessons to lean on. Secondly, I am just starting the Bible study today and I have to quote something you said…

God has been planning something. It is was an intentional decision on His part to place you in this generation, within the circle of influence you possess because He alone knew the impact perhaps only your life could have on another in your midst. Our God wants to make us, in my southern twang, spiritually ‘perty’. And, if you are like me, you want to wear the life God has said will make you most beautiful. God rejoices in ‘being generous’. He is trying to give us Canaan! It is about time we quit looking back over our shoulders at Egypt and simply walked face forward into the gift….

Thank God you said those words, I needed to hear them today. For you see, my husband’s call to this church at this time is NOT EASY! It has not been easy for him nor myself. This church is dying and the congregation is refusing to see it, including the pastor! They refusing to reach outside of their “club” atmosphere to touch another life. We and a couple other staff memebers are banging our heads agains the wall!

So w/o going into major detail, we are in a desert and desire that land of milk and honey. Thank you for the words above that helped me to focus on God and not the sad situtation we have here!

    Joy, John 15:11 Debi O.(Georgia)

Hey Lisa! I saw your twitter status and I tried to send you a message, but it didn’t happen! Our house burned down when I was 11 and I remember how much hangers meant to my mom. Please let me know what they need. *hugs*

Welcome!

Hi... I'm Lisa and as the tagline says, also a preacher's wife. I began this website in 2007 just prior to the Facebook revolution when mom blogs were a relatively conflict-free zone for sharing recipes and stories about our latest parenting fails.

Fast-forward a few years...

Luke and I continue to serve the same family of believers in North Alabama where we've called home for over 16 years.

The boys are grown and gone, we have an incredible daughter-in-law and the baby McKay is living her best life as an only child while working and going to college.

I am a full-time corporate employee and still love to write and teach Scripture. The last two years haven't been kind to public events but it's been during these trying times that the Lord has revealed the importance of the local church reclaiming discipleship using the gifts of those within the body. The time feels right to refresh the blog as a platform for sharing how God has worked through this process and perhaps encourage other churches to follow. And who knows, there may even be a recipe or more parenting fails. Those don't stop when your kids become adults.

Thank you for visiting.. I look forward to connecting!

My Book

Are you a ministry wife who could use words of encouragement for navigating the ins and outs of serving the church? I wrote a book for that very purpose. Check it out here!
