Then let me tell you about a fantastic writing contest at Christian Women Online Magazine. It is called, “Her Life Reflected” and all of the details are below. Though you will read it again in a moment, let me emphasize that the winner gets $400! I had the privilege of helping judge this contest last year and I can tell you the competition was stiff. Her Life Reflected

Writing Contest

Christian Women Online, in conjunction with Art Bookbindery, is sponsoring the “Her Life Reflected,” writing contest. We are looking for essays that tell us how your mother, or a mother that you know has reflected the heart of our Heavenly Father in her life. The winning essay will be one that is both written well, and of most importance, one that reflects God as being the central focus of one’s life.

The contest is open to women aged 18 years and older, who reside in Canada or the United States. Employees of Art Bookbindery or regular writers of Christian Women Online, are not eligible to enter.

Our judges will choose only one winner. That winner will receive $400.00 U.S. from Art Bookbindery, 2 copies of Darlene Schacht’s humorous book, The Mom Complex (one for you and one for mom!), 2 copies of Kathleen Carnali’s music CD, Dangerous Prayer, 2 Proverbs 31 mugs from Mugs of Truth (a design idea inspired by CWO friend, Iris of Sting my Heart), and an autographed photo of Candace Cameron Bure along with a DVD of her testimony. Now that’s a great package!

We will announce the winner on Mother’s Day, May 11th, 2008, and will publish the at that time.

Hi... I'm Lisa and as the tagline says, also a preacher's wife. I began this website in 2007 just prior to the Facebook revolution when mom blogs were a relatively conflict-free zone for sharing recipes and stories about our latest parenting fails. Fast-forward a few years... Luke and I continue to serve the same family of believers in North Alabama where we've called home for over 16 years. The boys are grown and gone, we have an incredible daughter-in-law and the baby McKay is living her best life as an only child while working and going to college. I am a full-time corporate employee and still love to write and teach Scripture. The last two years haven't been kind to public events but it's been during these trying times that the Lord has revealed the importance of the local church reclaiming discipleship using the gifts of those within the body. The time feels right to refresh the blog as a platform for sharing how God has worked through this process and perhaps encourage other churches to follow. And who knows, there may even be a recipe or more parenting fails. Those don't stop when your kids become adults. Thank you for visiting.. I look forward to connecting!

I wish I could say that I had a good testimony to write…but there’s always time and Jesus can make a way! I’m believing God for that :)

I want to pray for all of us who read this post and are saddened by the fact that we don’t have mothers who we want to write about. Don’t mean to be Debbie Downer… sorry! I look forward to reading the stories of those who had that kind of mother. I thank God for all of the “Spiritual” mothers He’s brought in my life!
