** I haven’t done a WFMW in a while but this week is the Greatest Hits edition. I chose to repost the tip that got the most comments from you. Without further ado, here is how to get your shower sparkling! **
Tilex Soap Scum remover – you have to have this, nothing else.
Soaped Brillo pads – the soap keeps them from scratching.
Mr. Clean Magic Erasers
A Large Cup
Here’s What you do:
1. Run the shower hot for about 3-4 minutes to loosen everything up..
2. Spray Tilex from bottom to top covering all surfaces well and let soak for 5 minutes. (If you spray top to bottom, you’ll get streaks that are impossible to get out)
3. You can’t clean the shower without getting in it! Get in and scrub the walls first with your Brillo pad, bottom to top one wall at a time. As soon as you are finished with a wall, rinse well with your big cup. If you’ve missed a spot, Tilex again and repeat.
4. Clean the sides of your tub. Most of these are smooth so continue same process you used on your walls.
5. If you have a smooth bottomed-tub, you can continue with your Brillo pads. If it is textured, use the Magic Eraser. They really are magic! The tub bottom should be plenty wet from all your rinsing of the walls. By the time it has soaked while scrubbing everything else, the bottom comes clean pretty easily.
6. If you have shower doors, use the brush to scrub along the tracks and around the metal trim. Use Brillo pads on the glass, being careful to test an area first to ensure it will not scratch. Mine never have but don’t want you to scratch your doors and blame it on me!
This sounds so hard and the first time it will be. After this, if you keep it up your cleaning will not take long at all. I actually clean the shower while I’m taking one sometimes..Two birds with one stone! :)) I also have to sing the praises of the Mr. Clean Shower Cleaning gadget Shannon talked about last week. I have one and they really work!
This is wonderful! I think that is my absolutely least favorite, bottom of my list, worst job in the house! Ick!
I will think of you when I clean my stupid tub, and it will put a smile on my face, Lisa!
Maybe I can discipline myself to do it once a week if I do it this way when I take a shower. It could be my Saturday morning sabbatical in the bathroom. Oh, yukky, I mean, hurray!
Oooh, I’m going to add this stuff to my grocery list. I just wrote yesterday about my need to scrub my tub (groan!). Thanks for the ideas.
Can you come over tomorrow and give me a demonstration? :) Thanks for the tip…
My shower is actually in need of some help! I never thought of trying the Magic Eraser in it. Great idea!
Thanks for sharing.
I clean it while I’m in it, too, sometimes! Thanks for the tip.
Cool! Thanks for the tip! I hate cleaning my shower!
Anything that helps me clean the bathroom is a welcome suggestion! I’ll be trying this ASAP!
Does this work on Fiberglass showers, or just tile? I would think that brillo pads – even with soap in them – would scratch.
I’d love to try this – Thanks!
Great tip! Never thought to use a Brillo pad–thanks!
I am going to the store RIGHT NOW!
Now, all i need is help on how to clean toilets! :)
Thanks!
Leslie
Wow, thanks for the great tip! I always use a magic eraser, but I am definitely going to try this. I LOVE a super-clean shower.
Come visit The Big Yellow House sometime!
Martie
Just a note – using a soaped brillo pad works fine on my fiberglass shower no scratching but to be safe, do a test patch on yours! The combination of the Tilex and soap in the pads should keep it from being too abrasive.
I forgot to mention shower doors – same process but I use a small brush to get the goop out of the tracks. :)
oh can’t wait to try it!!thanks so much..have wednesday.
Wow it sounds like it will make life easier for us all….Thanks for the tip
We don’t have the tilex soap scum remover here.
I either use a spray with vinigar, soap and water. Spray it on, wait a couple of minutes and use a firm rough cloth to remove the dirt.
In corners I use an old paintbrush after spraying.
Or I use what I’ve found at “works for me” a few weeks ago: laundry detergent.
That’s a perfect cleaner.
Brillo always gives scratches, but these are not always seen with the eyes.
Well, whatever workes….
You know what would be WAY easier??? If YOU came over and did all that FOR me!!! LOL! Except I’d start yapping and we’d talk the whole time and get absolutely nothing done…sounds great to me!
I came by to catch up with you after my new hard drive installation, and I had to read all the way to THIS post before I was all caught up! I’m glad I did though, I’m definitely gonna try that in my bathrooms. I’ll give you the whole story some other time, but the bathrooms here are just scary!
I’m so excited that I actually won a drawing! This is the first time I’ve won one of those random generator things! Yippee! I’ll email you with my address as soon as I’m finished catching up with all my other bloggy friends.
I’m off to visit Real Estate Girl next!
What a great idea…although it sounds time consuming! Do I need a babysitter to watch the kids while I clean the shower?? HA!
Thanks for the tip. I’ll give it a try.
That is awesome!! Thanks for the advice. I will definitely have to try this!
Thanks I really needed this…
Can’t WAIT to try it out!

Bottom to Top huh? I never in a million years would have thought to do it that way. No wonder I get streaks! I’m definately going to give this a shot!
Ah, it makes sense now! I have always cleaned top to bottom and drove myself crazy trying to get all the streaks. DUH!
Thanks for the tips.
Linda
you are far far far too intelligent!!! I am inspired – wait did i just say that??? hee hee
love, Leigh
Hey, that is awesome! Thanks for the tip, I’m actually going to go to the store to get the tilex and magic eraser and try this out!
I use the Scrubbing Bubbles shower sprayer device and then every now and then take a shower with my Scrubbing Bubbles scrubber…the sprayer doesn’t get it all but keeps it manageable. It is great to kill two birds with one stone and do it while you shower! Otherwise I simply break my back!
Is the Mr.Clean Shower gadget the one that rotates automatically? Is that the commercial with the maids hiding behind the shower curtain? I’m still trying to sneak up on my hiding maids…Still haven’t found them yet.
I LOVE my Magic Erasers! They perform wonders just about everywhere. =)
I tagged you! Go to my blog to see what’s up, friend! :)

sounds like it works really well. I was informed that grout paint pens are available to get the grout white again between those little tiles.
Thanks for this cleaning tip!
Blessings in Christ-
Have you tried Kaboom? It is in a purple bottle and sold at Target. It is a miracle shower cleaner!! Isn’t it funny how we all struggle with these same dilemmas? LOL
Kelley
Lisa, there is one thing,I can’t fine soaped brill pads I tried Wal-mart, Target and HEB where do you fine them?? thanks marina
Oh my goodness! I too have struggled with those darned streaks (well on the few and far between occasions when I actually clean my shower- Hey I’m single, I can do that! Gotta have some perks!). I never would have come up with that!
Also- about cleaning in the buff? I mean- “cleaning the shower while taking one”. I do that too, but it sounds weird to me, like you have to be careful to not say “I’m cleaning the shower naked” because that shifts the focus significantly!
Sorry, was that TMI??
A
Me. Yup. Gonna spend a precious day off doing this. (blech) I was going to say a huge Thank You Lisa! but I think I better wait until I actually do it. Then I can officially come back and do the palm frond wave.
Perfect timing…I’m in the mood to get some serious spring cleaning done. This is not a chore I love to do, but I sure do like the results. I think I’ll give your technique a try all the while thinking of the end result. Thanks for sharing!
Lisa,
I’ll have to try this. I had a guy who repairs fiberglass tubs tell me that if you want to make it easy to clean, then clean it with DOW and then put car wax on the sides, NOT THE BOTTOM, of the tub. He said the dirt will wash off each time.
I haven’t tried it yet, but if I do and it works, I’ll let you know.
Have a blessed day,
Julie
